Dear Charlotte 4.13.17

Dear Charlotte,

It's been a while since I've written you a letter but don't worry! I'm not giving up on this. I know it will be worth it in the end.

Since I last wrote you a letter we got a dog! His name is Zeus and he is a one year old Maltipoo. Your dad and I have a love/hate relationship with him. He is seriously the worst sometimes. But while he mostly just tolerates you, you LOVE and ADORE him. You have now become obsessed with all dogs and I sort of love it. I often find you with your arm around him just chatting or giggling. That makes my heart melt a little.

Also since I last wrote your vocabulary has boomed! This is a conversation we had the other day as I was about to put you to bed:

You: I'm hungry.
Me: You're hungry?
You: Yeah.
Me: What do you want to eat?
You: Ummmmmm bread.
Me: Bread?
You: Yeah.

It was so weird. It felt like I was having a conversation with a kid not a baby! You also have started to say things like:
"Beep Beep" (which either is in reference to your toy car or is your way of saying "more please!")
"That's cool"
"I want _____" (this varies between mommy, daddy, outside, walk, doggy, snack, and drink)
"Zeus cry?"
"Yeah." to everything that even sounds like a question haha.
You can pretty much copy every word we tell you to say now. It gets pretty fun :)

I also had one of the scariest experiences of my life the other day with you. I took you to the store to get some cash out for a fundraiser the young women in our ward were doing. You were kind of getting fussy while I was getting you back into the car so I gave you the keys to keep you occupied. Well...you pushed the lock button...and I heard the car lock...but it didn't register...and I shut the door. Soooooo there you were. Inside a locked car with the keys. And my phone. And everything else. I just about died. I quickly asked a stranger to use a cell phone to call your dad. I finally got a hold of him and he called a cop for me. At first, you thought it was a joke and kind of funny. You laughed and giggled. But then when reality hit you started crying and saying, "I want mommy!" It was awful. Luckily the weather was nice and I was confident you weren't going to melt or freeze in there. Otherwise I would've punched that window in with my fist of steel! Haha. I can laugh about this now. But at the time I was embarrassed, frustrated, sad, scared, and flustered. So stressful.

Life with you is always an adventure. It's so exhausting chasing you around all of the time and I swear you have more energy now than ever before, but it is a lot of fun. You're such a good kid and you are still so friendly. Now if I could only get you to stay in nursery...haha.

We love you so much Charlotte. You mean so much more to us than you will ever know.

Love,
Mom
